Barnette had charge of the Kiwanis program Tuesday at Oak Hall hotel and told of the tre mendous advancement made in syn thetics during the past 20 years. Mr. Barnette had samples of raw and synthetic rubber and told of the advantages and dis advantages of both. The speaker showed the first balloon tire and compared it with the balloon tire of today showing the improve ment being made in the tire in dustry. The speaker stated that rubber users are able to get all the rubber they want for the first time in 11 years because of the tremendous output of, synthetic rubber in this country. Guests of the club were Kiwan ian Rupert Koch of Henderson ville and Dr. George S. Vosburgh Jr., of Chicago. WARNS OF FIRE DANGER Fire Warden O. C. Feagan is issuing warning to everybody to be careful about fire of any kind while in the woods, especially fishermen. He said the only major fires recently were caused by fishermen. Carelessness in throw ing down cigarettes, matches and in neglecting camp fires may start a woods fire that will do tremend j ous damage. Music Here Thursday The Tryon High School Chorus will put on the P.-T. A. program Thursday afternoon and will be directed by Mrs. Clarence Rhodes, assisted by Mrs. W. H. McDonald and Miss Romanstine as accom panist.
